A Cinematic Masterpiece For All The Wrong Reasons

Meet The Room. One of my favorite movies, but not for the reasons you think.

The Room is a movie written, directed, produced and starred in by Tommy Wiseau (shown in image above)

Now, Tommy Wiseau is not just any writer, director, producer or actor. No, no, no. He has an accent that bears no resemblance to any place that you can find on this earth, one of his biggest influences is Elizabeth Taylor, and when asked about the time he lost his virginity he proceeded to say "It was very groovy, from scale of 1 to 10, it was very great." But enough about his eccentricities... Lets show you the trailer.

This movie is a clusterfuck of awful, and that is what makes this movie so great. While this movie was a box office failure, it picked up a cult following.  Now there are midnight screenings of this movie in major cities near you.

Basically its about Johnny (Tommy Wiseau) and his fiance Lisa (Juliette Danielle). Their relationship begins to go down the drain when Lisa realizes she no longer loves Johnny, and begins to have an affair with Johnny's best friend Mark (Greg Sestero).

The movie takes place in San Francisco, and to make sure you don't forget that there are dramatic pan shots of the city in between scenes to remind you. Many scenes take place on a rooftop in San Francisco, which is shot with a green screen. First, how hard is it to find a rooftop in San Francisco to shoot on? Second, its very poorly edited too. The sex scenes (there's four) are awkwardly long, and involve cheesy R&B music. Also, you'll see lots of football playing....sometimes even in tuxedos.

Also, you'll find that the title 'The Room' has nothing to do with the movie.

There are many subplots that get brought up once, but never are mentioned again, or are never elaborated upon. For example.

In this scene, Lisa has a conversation with her mother and in the scene her mother nonchalantly declares that she has breast cancer. (This never gets mentioned again)

A glorious example of bad production quality and acting:

And just one more scene for you to enjoy;

What perhaps is best of all, Tommy Wiseau still declares that he made a good movie. It is speculated that poor Tommy doesn't realize that his 'masterpiece' isn't as good as he'd like to believe. Oh well, we'll let him maintain his ignorance. It is bliss, right? I've left much out in this post, but it is my hope that you watch this movie and experience it for what it is.

Remember folks, leave your stupid comments in your pocket.
